What is an Executive Summary?

An Executive Summary is typically part of a full business plan. If you don't need a full business plan, you may want to create a 1-3 page Executive Summary to hand out to vendors, employees, people interested in your business, prospects, customers, etc. to explain what your business is all about. It should be a great read - interesting and compelling enought o convince people you know what your company is trying to achieve.

There are two types of Executive Summaries:

Synopsis Summary – provides the conclusions of each section of your business plan in a very straight-forward manner.

Narrative Summary
– tells the reader a story; conveys drama and excitement in presenting your business. More difficult summary to write, but great for businesses that need considerable explanation such as a new business, product, service, market, or technique.

You will want to include the following content in your Executive Summary:

Company background

Mission

Why your business will be in this niche market

How your company will work

Recent projects (if any)

Benefits

Goals and objectives

Marketing plan description summary

Financial summary
